Hi guys,

I'm thinking of modifying my car, but is it really worth it on a 1.8 Focus? I do realise it's not amazing on the grand scheme of things but I enjoy driving it and I have my bike for a bit of swiftness smile

Thinking of OEM+ stuff such as all red rear lights, some decent suspension, uprated brakes.

What Ghia stuff can you fit? Tempted to get a leather interior...

Or should I just save up for another car... (Where's the fun in that)

Cheers smile

I took the bit of black plastic in the pull-out ashtray and turned it into a sunglasses holder. That's a nice mod.

I use the cigarette lighter holder to keep spaghetti in my car

You never know when you might need some spaghetti

I imagine they double up as emergency tourniquet's when boiled at the roadside

WARNING: Tornique theory not tested.

Step 1: Sell your Focus 1.8

Step 2: Purchase a Focus 2.0 with leather seats, aircon, heated windscreen etc.

Step 3: Relax as your insurance company doesn't hammer you for a modded car, and you don't go hurtling into the scenery because you messed up the suspension geometry making it "better".

Step 4: Notice how few people call you a Twunt because you fitted chav rear lights. Unless you are 17 with a 12 year old girlfriend, and associate with people who think a great car is a Saxo 1.1 with 500kg of speakers in the boot, nobody you know will appreciate them.

Hi mate, I had a 1.8 zetec Focus. If you want it to go noticeably quicker, get a decat pipe and 4-2-1 manifold. Also an enclosed induction kit and half decent exhaust system. In terms of visual mods, I went down the stealthy route:

Un-called for I think.

In your eyes maybe, his car can do whatever he wants to it.

Yes it is his car, and yes he can do whatever he likes to it. Thats why i put IMHO (in my honest opinion)

If you are gonna put pics of ur car on here then you should be prepared for good AND bad comments about it.

It is a democracy my friend!!

I think I'll leave it and just put some money towards my next car (ITR DC2 or Celica 190)

No offence mate but you drive a white Focus ST. This Focus was my first car at 17, and it was brilliant. Decent power, economical, and most importantly cheap to insure.

Clearly you either have alot more money than me so can afford a better/faster car. Or your just being a c**k urself!!! Oh and you know nothing about the RAF pal so ram it.....at least im serving my country rather than myself!!!

But i gave my opinion and u've given urs so there we are. Nuff said i think.

As for the OP if your keeping ur car n/a dont expect major horsepower gains, u'd have to turbo or supercharge it. But good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Think you got the wrong end of the stick pal. Saying that my car is 'chavvy' or 'barry' presumably as an insult means you are insulting yourself, as you drive a White Focus ST with red stripes. Nobody is saying you are poor. I mean, you can't be, you drive a Focus that consumes fuel at a silly rate of knots.

having a completely standard new focus st is not the same thing as trying to soup up a 1.8 zetec with black lights and wheels.

Well it needs a new exhaust now anyway so it's either £160 at kwik fit or £300 for a milltek cat-back.

You're right, in most respects it is not. Example: One is tasteful... the other has red stripes

I feel this thread has been hijacked a little from the poor OP. Sorry dude. But in all seriousness save up and just buy a car thats faster and better specc'd in the first place. Its the best bang for buck option.

Thanks for the back-up 'rsstman' i'd say he obviously hangs around in car parks in a hoodie. But i think thats an end to it before it descends into too much abuse. If he likes that sort of thing thats his choice and his car so fair plays. Simply not my cup of tea. The ST is the better car FACT!!
