I thought Renaults were bad!!!

Having had the turbo die only last month i was not expecting there to be any more trouble for a while. .. However last sunday i had the same metallic boink followed by no power. To cut a long story short as i'm writing on a ps3, the engine needs replacing Is this a common problem with the 1.6TDCi? Less than 2 years old and only just over 60k miles .
By No means common, but as far as I can tell, all modern high pressure diesels just, occasionally do this. If you have had it serviced on the nose at ford dealerships since new, you possibly be able to speak to the Ford dealer about the cost of the repair.
10,000 engines fine to well over 100k,, then one 20,000 mile failure. It seems to happen. All marques. Its terrible luck mate. I hope its sorted out for you...
Keep us informed! I love my TDCI, but if it does that at 60k I will cry!

Thanks for that Jon.
They are replacing under warranty which is handy as it was a couple of hundred miles over 60k... I was suprised when they said the engine needed replacing, as it still worked, just without any get up and go of the turbo.
Out of interest Jon, is the 2.0 in the new Mondeo a PSA lump?
Thanks,
Paul.

Nearly got an engine back in my car now. This is a good thing, as I'm off to North Wales end of next week, and don't fancy doing too many miles in the Fiesta I've got as a courtesey car... It's a tad noisy at motorway speeds
Hopefully they'll accidentally have put the 2.0 Diesel in rather than the 1.6 had before!!
