Hi,

I hear this is a common problem, my 02 85K focus had brake fluid on the drivers mat tonight, investigated futher and found it is leaking out slowly when i depress the pedal on the clutch, where the white plastic plunger goes in to the unit.

Anyone else had this, is it reasonably easy and cheap to do, was thinking of trying the stealership or a local garage as i need it fixed and have not got the time to do it, due to work and it would cheaper to pay to get it fixed, i reckon than spend ages trying to do it myself.

Any feedback would be welcome.

Thanks.

cool thanks,

going to enquire in the local garage tomorrow and buy some brake fluid to keep an eye on the levels, not noticed any problems with clutch operation yet, but need to get car sorted as on call for work, and it handy if it does not packup hundreds of miles from home.

cars in being fixed, £80 for a shiney new bit of plastic, and 1.5 hours labour.

Cool, could be worse.

Yup that was about what I paid for the same job. Although mine wasn't leaking, that white bit of plastic had somehow snapped!

thats common to from what i have read, that will happen next i expect wink

breaks off the pivot on the pedal, welding is very hit or miss, so can fail though stress after time.

still these things happen, focus still a very good car.
