Ford Mondeo Radio Removal
Discussion
The No1, 2 and 3 buttons have packed in on my radio in my 2004 Mondeo Zetec S. Ford told me that the radio's are only covered for 1 year and not the normal 3 so need to get the baby out to have a look before whipping it down to a local experts. My question is how on earth do you get these units out? Is there a special tool I need to get my hands on??
For 2004 model you need a set of these

If you popped into ford dealer and ask they should pop it out for you.

As barry says , BUT be very carefull inserting the keys you can balls it up (as monkey engineers have shown me) and its a case of spending lots of time fiddling getting the radio with possible trim marks/damage, and in extreme cases smashing the radio out ! as even ford dealers aint that clued up ! audi/vags had the same problem hence the move to screwing the radio in which ford now do on the new mondeo/focus and it will spread across the rest of the cars
boocks you removing radios up if you use the correct keys. The easiest ones to take out are the 6000 units ( fiestas, focus's and early mondeos ) by just using 2 u shaped keys you insert, tilt the edges out and then pull the keys out. But the newer ones, needing 4 'ring pull' keys are slightly more awkward but can still be done without ing it up..
Aye up potty mouth , They ARE easily ballsed up ,if you get the key insertion wrong you can bend the spring tab outwards effectivly locking the radio into the dash , and as its a 2004 , its the later Ford audio units with blade keys . if its so esy why have i come across so mant that have been messed up ?
