Hi all, my Girlfriend is after a new shape mondeo, she's seen one at a dealers with 132,000miles a year 2000 TDI with a full service history, it's going for £2000.

looking around at what's available from dealers £2000 is about the right price BUT heres the problem:-

IF it's had a tow bar it's probably pulled a caravan, does pulling a caravan put loads of extra strain on the engine giving it extra wear? so it's going to become unreliable? or at worse worn out?

does she buy? or look elsewhere for one with lower mileage?

I doubt that it'll have done many thousands of miles pulling a shed, so I'd consider it on a par with any other diesel of similar mileage. Presumably to have racked up that many miles so quickly it must have spent the majority of its life burning up and down motorways, which results in minimal wear and tear compared to town driving.

If its been properly maintained it will be fine, a lower mileage car can often be no gaurentee of any increased reliability.
