Ticking noise in Ford Fiesta 1.8 diesel

My sister has a fiesta 1.8 diesel and when servicing it last month i changed the oil filter, fuel filter and exhaust. when putting the new oil in i put too much in, and of course when i started the car, the engine went mental, oil coming out the exhaust smoke coming from the engine. the car eventually cut out but ever since there has been a loud ticking coming from the engine, this increases with the RPM.

Can anybody help me diagnose the problem?
