Hi peeps,
Just been away for a month, left my 05 SKa at a mates, pulled off the drive and noticed an oil trail frown

Had a peek, the oil filter has corroded badly and rusted thro in 1 place, attempting to remove, by hand, and the filter mount shears!!

My mate goes to another ford dealers to collect new filter mount and shows them the original, they have told me there is no way it was replaced at my last service and the part is also faulty causing the shear.

Im planning to return to the original dealers on tues with broken part to confront them and tell them how unhappy i am with my Street Ka in general, but I dont really know what to say..

Im so annoyed that they didnt carry out the service I paid for and that if I hadnt noticed or this happend on the m'way I would be having major probs. Its taken my mate all day to replace the parts too. There is also significant corrosion on the air con pipes and the driveshaft.

Should I be worried about the other rust?
Will Ford give a toss about my shabby car? Its still under warranty if that makes a difference..

Thanks smile

Driveshaft surface corrosion is nothing to worry about they are untreated and rusty when new.You will need an independant report or the other Ford Dealer to write a letter stating in their opinion the service wasn't carried out to ease things along.Do you live near the sea?

Hi, Yes I live near the sea, but the other Ford have said even so there is no way that amount of corrosion would have happened to the oil filter since my last service.

A few people in the trade have had a look and the oil filter is impossible to get off, they have guessed whoever did the service decided to leave it, only 10k miles and living near Guildford then, then I was posted to the coast.

Im upset I was so vulnerable, luckily it went at my friends who is a mechanic and not on the A9 out of Scotland, middle of nowhere!

Yes at least you didnt get stuck somewhere,do you still have last years reciept, service checksheet and healthcheck? Maybe one of the people who has commented the service wasnt done properly can write a report for you but i tend to think you will need an engineer as though garages can be happy to talk about each other they will rarely put it in writing for fear of litigation.

Yep, still have last years papers, Im going today to a couple of places to ask if they'll write me something.
Next problem is the garage who did the service is Hampshire and I live in Moray now, Im hoping that as a Ford main dealers they'll help me out anyway.

thanks smile

Hi Jon, Ive just spoken to Ford customer assistance and because we didnt replace with a ford oil filter the wont help with any costs!
I told them I hardly had any choice, stranded miles away from anywhere!! But they dont want to know!

Im bloody furious!

Visited Ford Elgin, their senior mechanic says he has never seen an oil filter in such bad condition, but wont put it in writing for fear of litigation....

About to phone the ford garage who did my service....

I can understand where Ford are coming from as its a dealer issue really,if you dont get anywhere with the dealer and i suggest you send a letter to the Dealer Principal as well as the Service Manager i would write to Ford to see if they can assist with the dealer. You still need an engineers report unless the dealer admits liability,or if you intend to take the matter further.I hope you can resolve the problem amicably with the dealer as that would be far less time consuming.Take photos and be ready to send those to the dealer if you havent already.

Hi Rach!

That 330 looks very nice. As you say though, auto is a bit of a shame, although BMW ones are pretty good. Buy it!!
