Whats it worth please? - Focus

Hi guys,

My bird needs a car and a guy at work is selling a 1999 5 door 1.8LX Ford Focus with 75k on the clock.

Good little runner, no real niggles bar the passenger electric window not going up from the drivers side (which has been like that for 2 years).

Has 12 mionths tax, 6 months MOT.

Guy wants a good price, just a bit more than he would get as a trade in as he cant be arsed to sell privatly (buying a nearly new seat leon diesel) - dont wanna pay too much, but also dont wanna rip him off.

Suggestions please!

I would say £2.5k - £3k max.

I'd say nearer £1.5 - £2k. Just coming up to cambelt change time which is a few quid, and the LX is pretty basic I'm assuming it doesn't have Air-con. I think it was only the Zetec which you could get the climate pack on.

Offer the guy £1500 and see what happens, but I personally wouldn't go over £2k. Although the Focus is a brilliant car, this one is 8 years old!!

We have agreed on £1750 but need to sort tax - he put a years tax on it.
