Ford Fiesta Encore 1999 1.3cc reving un-naturally
Discussion
Ford Fiesta Encore 1999 model 1.3cc
Hi
Have just bought this car. Drives fine. Engine idles ok when stationary but when car is driven and comes to a halt engine takes longer than normal (maybe up to 4-5 seconds, sometimes longer) for its revs to drop to normal tick-over, it actually seems to rev up (not excessively) and down quite a few times as if the engine is "puffing and panting!" before calming down.
I have been told it is the TPS (throttle positioning sensor).
The throttle cable seems to be free.
If anyone has experience in this area your advice will be greatly appreciated.

HI THERE YOU ARE RIGHT IN THINKING IT IS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
YOU ARE ON RIGHT LINES , BUT THE PROBLEM IS ACTUALY THE MULTIPLUG WHICH GOES TO THE SENSOR , THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE TERMINALS INSIDE THE PLUG THEY BREAK DOWN THE RESISTANCE IN THE CURRANT WHICH GOES TO THE SENSOR, THE IS A UPGRADED WIRING PLUG WHICH IS AVALIBLE FROM FORD FORD WHICH COSTS AROUND £20 THEY CHANGED THE CONNECTORS FROM TIN PLATED TERMINALS TO GOLD, CAN BE FITTED IN ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINS JUST REQUIRES 3 WIRES CUTTING AND RE SOLDERING NEW LOOM AND PLUG BACK ON ONCE THIS IS DONE THERE I A SMALL 4 AMP BLADE FUSE IN THE FUSE BOX ( EASY TO FIND AS THERE IS ONLY 1 , 4AMP FUSE IN BOX ) REMOVE AND REPLACE AFTER A COUPLE OF MINS , THIS CLEARS THE ECU OF ANY FAULT CODES THAT IT AS STORED ,
THE PART NUMBER FOR REPLACMENT WIRE IS 1150138 IF YOU ASK ANY FORD DEALER FOR ONE OF THESE NUMBER THEY WILL KNOW STRAIGHT AWAY WHICH PART YOU WANT
