Hi there, I'm having a few problems with my V reg 1.25 Fiesta.
If I am stood at some lights, with the car in gear, and clutch depressed, the revs will occasionally dip very low and cause the car to feel like its about to stall, unless I give it a quick blip of the throttle.

Also, I'm not able to get it to higher speeds as quickly as I used to, is it injection related? I've only noticed it since I had it repair after bending the crossbeam round the back of a BMW.

Many thanks.

How's it sound when idling in neutral?

[stupid suggestion]
Exhaust hasn't got a bloody great hole in it has it?

Idle control valve (ICV) bunged up? Remove and squirt with carb cleaner.

Sounds OK in idle, if the revs are at the right level, other times it sounds like it will stall (the light that you get when you turn power on lights flickers as it gets near stalling point).

I'll look up the ICV and have a mooch in there.

Will report back smile

maybe a daft suggestion but check the spark plugs maybe one has a crack in the ceramic, i had a similar problem with a k reg xr3i 1.8zetec that i used to own, blew the head gasket got it repaired and back from the garage only to find it took ages to get to the red line, turned out one o the spark plugs was cracked.

Could well be an air leak, split/loose pipe or inlet manifold gasket or ICV.

I have a similar problem, the revs sometimes dip suddenly and i have to give it some serious right foot to keep it going, can't quite get to the bottom of it.

Check the airflow meter they often cause problems when dirty quick squirt with carb cleaner normally does the trick. Be careful not to go over the top though as it can be easily damaged.

Almost certainly the Idle Control valve, it's at the top front of the engine. You can get them new off eBay for £25 and it takes all of three minutes to fit (two bolts and a cable to change over)
