Jon, how does this split between Ford and the Dealer work? Is it Ford for the first year and then the dealer's view? If my car is older than a year, do I have to go back to the dealer who sold the car?

Cheers!

3 years or 60000 miles which ever comes first, is the warranty imposed on car lines and Ranger.

transit and Connect are on 3 years or 100000 miles

However, years 2 and 3 on car lines are an extra cover affair and certain parts of the vehicle are excluded such as bulbs, trim, shock absorbers and friction materials.

Re the question on going back to the selling dealer, NO, you can go to any Ford authorised repairer in europe.

All true and correct,as a dealer we do have a certain amount of flexability within the warranty confines in the second and third year(It's not unusual for me to meet the customer half way on repairs in these years) but in general Mr Ford will only pay for what he wants to and will reject as much warranty as he can, this is becoming especially tedious of late with claims of more than a thousand pounds being rejected for an incorrectly booked washer or for a minor part missing off the parts list therefore rendering the repair "unsatisfsactory".(We do an unusually large number of warranty claims as we process for two other dealers and see 400-500 cars a week through our workshop for retail and warranty work)
At the majority of local and national working group meetings i attend warranty is a major gripe, its certainly not a money spinner.
