I am thinking about purchasing a 55/06 Fiesta, which of the range would you recommend (everythingexcept the ST, too dear to insure).

Thanks in advance.

How about the Zetec-S then?? 1.6 petrol or Diesel. Not going to set the world on fire which keeps the insurance sensible, but should be a good step up from your Corsa.

Cheers,

Paul.

I've only driven the 1.4 (petrol) Fiesta's and must say they feel underpowered. 1.6 is definitely the way to go.

Yeah the Insurance on the Zetec-S is cheaper that I thought. But the question after chossing the Zetec-S - diesel or petrol?

It would be petrol for me - I didn't like the response of the diesel unit when I had a (very quick) drive in my mum's new Zetes s. Having said that the car only had 400 miles on it and I really only drove it for less than a mile.

I prefer petrol as a rule but haven't driven the 1.6 unit, only the 2.0 litre ST which is noisy and harsh but kinda fun!

Yeah I'd go petrol too. Ive got the 1.6 Diesel in my Focus although its kicking out 110 rather than 90 in mine. It does the job, but just not as much fun as revving a petrol round to the red-line when out for a bit of a back lane thrash driving Having said that, the Diesel should easily return 50mpg average in the Fiesta and be quite a bit quieter at a motorway cruise.
