I have just got a 99 Fiesta Zetec Mk4. The model is just a Zetec not a Zetec S. But on the plastic cover over the rocker cover bit (can't remeber proper name) it says Zetec-S.

Is this correct or has the car had a new engine?
It looks as though its had a new front bumper and new wings. Although its HPI clear so either its been in an accident and not been reported or its just had parts replaced?

The engine bay is very, very clean, all the cables, plastic and metal parts are all very clean. It has done 80k miles .

Would you say the engine has been replaced?

Also, where is the engine number located on the actual engine? I will compare the number on the engine with the number on the chassis plate.

Zetec-S is just the engine name, or more correctly known as a Sigma.

Using the same name for an engine & a trim level has caused a lot of confusion over the years.

ah right. So its just the engine name and that has no reference to the car.
Well thats nice to know.

We think it might have just had some new plastic bits, as the metal parts look like they are probably original. Some of the pipes also have Zetec-S on them and then alot of the other pipes look new. May have just plastic bits and pipes redone.

Thanks for the help.

I noticed the same thing, at first it had me worried that the insurance was going to rape me. Mine looks reasonably clean and shiny underneath, its done almost 80 k too.
