Mondeo V6 rolling road results

Had a rolling road session at Engine Advantages, Witham, Essex on Saturday.
My car is a 1995 Mondeo 24v with Pipercross air filter, de-cat pipe, single silencer Mongoose exhaust system with straight through twin exits, smoothed MAF, standard chip.
Weather: cold and damp!
Results:
57BHP & 148lb ft @ 1650rpm
60BHP & 158lb ft @ 2000rpm
97BHP & 171lb ft @ 3000rpm
110BHP & 164 lb ft @3500rpm (dip in curve may be caused by secondary throttles not opening soon enough)
135BHP & 177lb ft @ 4000rpm
Max torque 180lb ft(244 NM) @ 4425rpm
(220NM standard)
168BHP & 176lb ft @ 5000rpm
182BHP & 158lb ft @ 6000rpm
Max power 182.8BHP @ 6200rpm (168bhp standard)
178BHP & 145 lb ft @ 6500rpm
Next step is to determine if chipping will release more power.
Anybody got any results for the 2.5 to compare to??

What was suprising was how soon it started, 2500rpm, the throttles don't open until 3100'ish and the dip finishes at about 3500rpm.
I reckon opening them earlier will help smooth out the dip slightly. If I go for the chip I'll experiment with changing the opening time.
The only way a chip will do anything much is if you go the full custom route, and even then it won't produce an awful lot more without modifying it's breathing some more. The usual way is to go for the extrusion honed SVT upper/lower inlet manifolds and bigger SVT throttle.
I thought that under WOT conditions the secondaries opened as soon as you hit the WOT zone, rather than the usual 3500rpm? It does sound like breathing is compromised at lower revs. It is counter-intuitive, but unless you know what you are doing, then 'improving' the induction can actually reduce airflow into the cylinders.

General opinion / experience shows you wont get a huge increase (6 bhp in one case) in power or torque... however, I can put you in touch with a few people that have chipped the ST24, and now have a smoother curve and claim better throttle response.
I know of people who have used Dreamscience, ChippedUK, SuperChips, a Unichip and a Bluefin.
I've heard stories of a 218bhp ST24, but that must have the ST200 UIM...? I do know of an ST24 at 193bhp and 180-odd lb ft torque.

The Vortech one involved relocating the battery and a lay shaft across the front of the engine bay, there were some horrific failure that resulted in the lay shaft flailing about in the engine bay at high speed smashing the bodywork and engine to bits!! Needless to say they no longer make the kit!!!
I think the Jackson racing kits were aimed at the zetec as they also do kits for the american Focus.
I don't have the luxury of air con on my car so am looking to bolt a suitable 'charger where the compressor would normally go. this keeps the engine bay looking normal bar a few extra pipes up to the throttle body and a relocation of the MAF as I'll keep this on the inlet side of the charger.

Just curious (sorry, not knocking your car!) but is 24NM and 15bhp really a noticable improvement? Just doesn't seem much when people always talk of mod's adding 5-10bhp each (admittedly usually Saxo driving burberry clad yoof's...and obviously a load of bollards).

I think it makes a difference, especially when I can climb all over and pass most Porsche Boxster 2.5's on acceleration(I'm not kidding either!), but it's not just the power increase, it's the longevity of the power band and the throttle response.
My car weighs 1260KG, most V6 mondeos make less than 165bhp@>6000rpm stock, that's up to 130bhp/metric tonne, mine has 145bhp/tonne with 165bhp available @4800rpm, so I have a lot more power available at lower speeds in each gear.
