Hi, i'm a newby so might have missed earlia posts. My problem is while travelling at around 80mph 3/4 throttle, if I floor accelerator to overtake or climb hill the car slows down, if I release the throttle back to 3/4 and then floor it again there is no response. I've had a dignostics check done but no fault codes were found. The car has done 90,000 miles mostly high speed motorway driving. I've been told that ther is a variable vane turbo on this model and this might have stuck or sticks when it gets hot. Other than this problem the car drives like a dream.

I also had a 2002 TDci focus with a similar sounding fault. You could floor it in the lower gears and it would only rev to about 3.5K RPM, but it was always rather gutless. Over three services at a main dealer I was told there was no fault, then I had a call from another local main dealer asking if I would take it to them for it's first MOT, we came to an agreement that they could test it if they fixed the fault, which I described over the phone..... In the words of the dealer it 'spectacularly' failed its test (with a full main dealer history FFS) they new exactly what the problem was when I dropped the car with them, they then fitted a new turbo and EGR valve and all was back to as it should be!!!!

So moral of the story DONT go the the dealed I USED to use, they were far more interested in fitting pads and discs etc, the fact the car couldn't pass a MOT....... And for good humor both dealers were from the same group, with the second dealer slating the first as useless!

And to your comment..... No fault codes were shown, mine was exactly the same.
