EEK my NY reg sportka has done 19,000miles, i open boot and theres two terrible rust spots where the standerd spoiler rubs the body, also all 4 seams are bleeding rust too!! pop the bonet and where the bummper starts its rusted along there too.
jennings too the rescue?????
no not quite, the 17 year old girl who i pass the keys too and jotts down what i am saying (do they have mecanics in garages these days?)seems merry and just as merry when she passes them back saying its not coverd in the warrentee.
i ring body shop guy as he wasnt available at time and he says its becuse its had a rear bump !!??!! refering to the small dent in the rear bumper from a parking misjudment im guessing that didnt even scratch or crack the bummper ! hardly a sunt big enough to pull apart 4 seems!
ok what do i do now ? and has any other sportka owners spoilers rusted where it contacts body(should warentee cover this)?

Corrosion warranty on Fords is 6 years, isn't it? (Don't know for Ka's, but worth checking)

Unless it's had a bump in that specific area (of metal!) which hasn't been repaired properly, can't see they've any real get-out. Sounds like a typical naff Ford dealership to me.

Well, if it's the front one they do have a point on a FWD...

My break components are rusty, 18 months old, is that normal?

That SportKa with the rust sounds like it might have had a bit of a dodgy past... why has it needed a new steering rack at 19000 miles?? Is it possible it has had a big crash at some point and been repaired, or have you had from new?

Interesting what you are saying about the clonking being related to the Anti-Roll bar, my missuses Fiesta is doing the same thing with clonking and banging over bumps. You can't feel it through the steering, but it sounds like something is loose.

Which brake components do you mean Rach?

This bit.... inside my alloy

I notice it everytime i walk past, my mate says paint it... is it covered under warranty? Or should I just trade it in as Im tempted....

2 boys have now told me to take the wheel off and paint it... any volunteers to help?

That's only the hub, so not a brake bit so at least there wouldn't be any worry about safety. It's purely a cosmetic thing, and with many alloy wheel designs you wouldn't see it.

I'd try taking it back to a dealer and asking them to paint it, but not sure how much luck you'll have

Well it has ben noted on Ka's that they rust badly at the front end and in particularly the front inside corner of the wings/inner wings. Seems Ford are poor at applying underseal.

The steering racks can be a bit fragile too, hence the early replacement. Oh, and the front bushes need replacing every couple of years. And mine needed new Lambda and Crank Position sensors in three years.....

...but apart from that they're great!

After they presented you with the bill, you'll have wanted you painted them yourself!

Its a shame the Ka is so fragile cos its a cracking handler. If mine had better build quality and some soundproofing I'd probably still be driving it.

Oh, and most Fraud Stealers need a good kick up the acensorede

Be interesting to see what the next one is like, esp considering its half Fiat.

bobdylan: have you taken the car to a different Fraud Stealer? There is a HUGE variation in quality between them.
