Weird Ka Noise...

Hiya! Got a weird noise coming from the engine when cold. It ONLY happens on a cold engine and it sounds like an electric motor that changes pitch with the engine speed. It starts when I do a quick move off, say at a roundabout or something. I never rev it high when it's cold so it's not high revving that's causing it. It then carries on until switch off. I really can't think where it could be coming from! Do you lot have any idea!? Oh, it's a standard 1300 Duratec by the way. Thanks in advance.

Realised what it is! It's the power steering pump! It makes an awful din when it starts! Put the car in the garage last night (which involves a 90 degree turn) and on full lock it was very loud! How can I stop this!?

very common problem on these - if the fluid level is OK it's a new pump required
