I have a 04 Mondeo ghia x and i am trying to remove the sony 6 cd unit.
Have been the main dealer today and they said they don't sell the removal tool ??
If i leave it in while im away on holiday the little cherubs will remove it for me !!
Anyone any ideas where i can buy the removal tool ?

Google (or froogle) it! ie. Sony radio (model number) removal key/tool! Bound to find something for a couple of quid! EASY!

get a set of 4 removal keys from your local dealer, the same pins also remove the lower series radios from focus, smax etc

they do sell them, but they have a ford special tool number.....they'll need to work for their cash

Just a word of warning ramming anything in but the right keys and being careful will cause the fixing clips to bend in to the vehicle making the radio impossible to remove you will then not be able to remove the keys as they lock into the fixing clips. The unit to replace is £650 from ford so paying the dealer to remove would be my advice.
I know this because I am an installer for voda and have replaced many that have been broken by subbies so be warned.

Sorted !! thanks to all who replied, got 4 keys this morning from Warrington Auto Audio.
I'll leave a note in the windscreen now for the pond scum who robbed my last one.

I reckon they use lolly sticks and a hammer to try and remove them, that one i had a while ago was a bastard ,

You work for yoda do you barry ? small world hehe

the keys you need are these ...

[urlkeys|http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imghttp://www.caraudioplus.co.uk/Radio_Remov">www.caraudioplus.co.uk/images/res/dm_ford_mondeo_keys_320_112.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.caraudioplus.co.uk/Radio_Remov[/url]

be very carefull when pushing them in makes sure you go stright , you will feel the pins bend out of the way then a click if you have to use any kind of force you are doing it wrong , if you dont feel confident as barry says dont even try . although if its a sony unit i would go for the large hammer removal method hehe
