My brother has a 52 plate TDCI hatch which seems to wear the tyres in about 5-7000 miles, mainly on the outisde edges. The sterring wheel is offset but tracking has been done and a 4 wheel laser alignment also carried out. He had a problem with the power steering a few years ago which the main dealer said couldnt fix?.

Any advice appreciated.

if the steering wheel is offset, then the steering isn't set correctly.

I think you need to start from the beginning here.

Has the sub frame been off for any reason?

I would suggest having the subframe alignment checked, and then have the steering angles rechecked and adjusted once you know for sure that the frame is correctly aligned to the car.

Tyre pressures also have quite an effect on the larger tyre sizes fitted to mondeo.

He may find that the bushes in the suspension arms are worn.

Cornering too hard will do this, it may simply be poor driver technique.
