Hi all,

Anyone know if there is such a thing to be emerging from Ford anytime soon...?

Seen lots of rumours and we've all seen the "spy shots" of the black Focus badged up as an ST TDCi with and I quote: "...the unmistakeable 300bhp roar..."!!

so, what's occurring...? Anyone know for sure?

Cheers,
Nige.

I keep hearing from Ford dealers (as if they'd really know anything) and from magazines that Team RS would like to complete the Focus RS project, but it's been shelved indefinately. Maybe we'll see it after the first facelift, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I agree with that.

Ford made a loss on every Mk 1 Focus RS that was sold so they would need to be in a better financial state before they start doing it. Focus platform isnt currently 4WD enabled yet and ST is pushing what FWD can take.

Definatley a desire at the company to do it, but financial realities make make us live with only the ST's for now, it was exactly the same with the old Fiesta RS.

Aye, the engineering teams want to get on with it, but the bean counters don't.

Ford have missed the boat in the performance sector, we won't even see an ST mondeo till 12-15 months after launch and then it'll only be fwd.

I think we will get a AWD RS.

The Mk2 focus chassis is AWD capable with volvo running gear, and the T-5 engine has more to give.

Isn't the new LR Freelander on a Focus platform?
If so, that would suggest that an RS version with 4wd is possible.
The only question is how many people want 1 & are prepared to pay for it 'cos if there aren't enough Ford'll never build it.
Might be an ST on the market soon with WRC winners 2006 badges on it I suppose. I've got intention of buying 1 with or without the badges though.

A very interesting piece on the Evo website was posted a couple of days ago: www.evo.co.uk/news/evospyshots/204479/ford_focus_rs.html

Looking at the photos, if it is 4WD and 300BHP, then I'm very excited about this car indeed! I just hope they do it in 5 doors as well.

Look towards the Volvo lineup - the 4WD option is there, along with a HPT straight 6

Roll on end of 07!! :P

I so wish they would do one of these... I can't have petrol as a company car, and the Focus is the perfect size for me. My budget allows up to about £23-24 so this would fit the bill perfectly. Oh well, I'm not due for a replacement till May '08 so plenty of time yet!!

there needs to be an RS focus just to give the competion a slap , ford need to kick the bean counters out the door to realise that a halo car such as the RS will help teh rest of the range and the market seems to be growing for quick motors .

would love to see ford produce it just to give subaru and mitsubishi a kick up the arse to say were still here

Its possible and rumours i have heard from those in Ford say it is coming.

That article posted above isnt worth the 1's and 0's of the internet. "unmistakeable sound of 300bhp"

I know a load of people with 300bhp in their ST's and they sounds the same as others with a lot less (but same exhausts )

Yes, the next generation Ford Focus will have OVER 300BHP from a Cosworth Turbocharged engine, 4WD and a rally inspired driving experience... right up until they release it, which it will then be a 230bhp, N/A Front wheel drive hatch.
