Just bought a low milage Ka for the much better half.

Problem: Fan is blowing well - but no hot air! Is there a simple reason for this or is it off to the garage for it?

(2001 Ka collection model - no air con)

PS: Just noticed the typo in teh title! Apologies! HEAT not HEAR

Probably the heater control valve, common problem on Fiestas, look in the engine compartment bulkhead and you will find a block(valve) with two heater hoses going in and two going out with a small electrical connection on it this controls the hot water it will take about ten minutes to change, and you might get away with out bleeding the system, not sure how much they are new but a mate got one from a scrappy for £15.

to see the valve on Ka, you'll need to remove the black skuttle panel.

While I'm here I' just gonna ask about my heater on my standard '03 Ka: The heater and cool fan works ok but when i switch it from hot to cold, it takes a minute or two to go completely cold. Is this normal because, if it's a valve, then I would have thought that it would come out cold straight away. Am i wrong!?

It takes a short while for the water in the heater matrix to cool down, the valve diverts water away from the matrix and effectively stops the flow through it.

If it's taking minutes to cool, the valve may not be doing it's job correctly or the control panel isn't sending a cold signal.
