Please help.
My girlfriends dad is a mechanic and has hit a problem trying to replace a fuel pump on an escort he's doing up.
Needed a new Fuel Injection Pump (1.8 Turbo Diesel).
He's bought one off a guy on ebay, but problem is that it won't turnover.

Apparently the immobilisor is not connected to the pump and it has a sensor that needs changing .....

Any help would be appreciated

yup, there is a module on the side of the pump closest to the block which is whats known as a remote immobiliser module (RIM)

it is coded to the PATS module fitted behind the dash.

You should be seeing the red LED near the clock flash it's whatsits off for 1 minute before slowing down to flash out a fault code when the ignition is turned to posII

Thanks I will pass that on, but how do we fix the problem.
The car is immobile due to this fault so getting it to a garage will be a problem. Is that the only way or is there a bypass ?!

The easy thing to do is tow the vehicle to a Ford dealer and have it recoded.

otherwise the only other option is to remove the pump and get the shear bolts out and refit the old unit.
It's not an easy task though.
