Does anybody know how to change the bulb on a Mark 1 Ford Focus, front headlight, near side?
The battery appears to be in the way to get access to the back of the headlight unit.
A Ford Main Dealer says this is a 45 minute job (for them!!)

Is it really that hard?

Any advice would be much welcome.

Cheers
Andy

Hi

When i did mine it took me about 20 mins, best to take battery out to give you the required access. Ensure you have the stereo code as when you take battery off the stereo needs re-coding. I didn't have code and had to get main-dealer to apply for code from Ford, luckily they did it for free cos it was under warrenty.

If you have small hands then it's not too bad to get the cover off, it's getting it back on that is tricky.

Basically, unhook the clip holding the bottom of the cover. Pull the bottom of the cover out as far as possible then pull it down. It's help at the top by two plastic pieces in a hole. Once you have the off it's easy. Refitting is the reverse of removal as they say.

It probably is a 15-20 min job though.

it's quicker to remove the headlight and then swap the bulb

Hi

You can get the bulb out with the headlight and battery in but you are doing the job blind!!!

I always remove the headlight, only takes 5mins to get out. Oh yeah don't forget the screw in the wheel arch!!!!
