Hi, I've a friend with an M reg 2.0Ltr Mondeo engine which is all but knackered and he's been quoted £1500.00 for a recond. engine including fitting - any advice on whether this is cheap/expensive etc? Also, any recommendations on where he could get a comparison quote? I can't remember where he got this quote from (doh!).

Cheers,

Adrian

Unless car's in mint condition i don't think it's worth doing unless he/you can do it yourself.

Should be able to get a scrap car for approx £100, fitting is just case of taking loads of photos when you strip cars down, best to do them side-by-side to compare.

Don't think the car will be worth £1500 when finished. I know it seems like a waste but it may be more ecomonical to sell as "in need of new engine" and but another one.

Sorry for the less than positive post.

Regards

Chris

Check eBay for engines, there are a load of new/nearly new 2.0 Zetecs going for cheap, although I think they were black as opposed to silver top.

Like F2Z says, easier to change car!
