Anyone else find this problem in theirs? Drove past a digital speed indicator sign today and I delibratley held it bang on 50 and the sign read 43!! hmmmmm... The car is an 03 Ka Style with around 17,500 miles on the clock so it's not old! Any ideas?

Speedos aren't allowed to under-read by law, hence most will tend to over-read to err on the side of caution.

I'm not sure I would completely trust those roadsigns either mind. Most SatNav systems will give you a pretty accurate speed readout.

Hi

My Roadangel and seperate GPS satnav both show the speedo in my '03 Focus to be over reading by about 5%, as stated by Frik, they arn't allowed to under read.

i think the law allows speedos to over read by upto 10%, dont quote me on that though.

Ka speedos are a little out, usually the true road speed is about 3mph slower than the indicated.

Is the car on the standard tyres?
Has it had the transmission repaired?

Why not get someone else to pace you down the motorway?

It's a completely standard 1.3 with only 17.5k on the clock so it drives like new really! I was driving to the Ford dealer to get the misfire sorted a couple of months ago and Mum was behind me in her new Golf and she said I was doing 27mph where I was making sure I stuck to 30 on my speedo! Must be just cheap ford speedos then! Thanks guys!

Those signs seem to have pretty poor accuracy anyway.
