Guys and gals,

I own a 2003 Streetka which has undergone a raft of subtle modifications. No MAX power stuff thanks very much!

Does anyone already removed the fascia panel - the one that surrounds the radio/CD player and instrument nacelle? How easy is it? I am asking cos I want to paint it another colour to lift the rather bland interior. I have already asked Ford dealers but couldn't make sense of what needed to be done.

And....have anyone noticed that when bootlid is opened after it has been raining, the water rolls off it and into the luggage compartment? That is a surprise to me and I've already had several instances of soaked carpet and luggage. Comments please.

Cheers

Yep, rain in the boot, how poo is it!! I found out the hard way with my uniform getting wet and dirty. Also the seatbelt creases up if not pulled dead straight, the CD player turns itself off, when the roof is down it leaves big open "holes" can see edges of interior looks a bit shabby IMO, the alarm goes off when the boot appears to be shut but isnt quite!.
Oh and whatever you do dont put your keys down in the boot sort out your packing then shut it, keys inside! Expensive tow to Ford garage and a totally buggered up day.

Good fun tho, would be interested to know what you have done to yours to perk it up, thanks!

Jellebabe:

Thanks for the response - there are definitely a few flaws but it's cheap and cheerful. No need to pay supercar prices. After all, Streetka is built by Pininfarina, famous for their Ferraris!!

I have already been warned about leaving keys in the boot!

I am struggling to embed some pics here - I'm new to Pistonheads - but will endeavour.

Had a streetka 3 years ago when they first came out. It was a grey metallic with stone grey leather and looked really good.

Unfortunately it had a re-occuring fault where the car wouldnt start unless u smacked one of the switches on the centre console really hard.

Unfortunately the last straw was when the car had been in the dealer for 2 weeks (stripped down with seats out) and they couldnt get the modification supplied by Ford to work. The car was sadly replaced with a Ford C Max and I think they finally got it fixed and sold onto another customer.

Im sure there are a couple of screws above the instrument cluster and then its just clips holding it on , just be carefull not to break the clips when removing

Rach which stereo is it in your car? The one in Deb's Fiesta does the same, I think it is a loose conection with the removable security bit. Try cleaning the contacts...

Paul.

My Ka does that too, just press the security bit and it comes back on.

If the cars under 3 years old take it to the dealer , thats what warranty is for , let them sort it !
