Mondeo v6 alternator

Bloody alternator has gone again in the mondeo. The first one went at about 60k miles and now the second one has gone at just over 100k. This one appears to have siezed solid according the RAC man who rescued the wife.

Bloody thing took 8 hours to replace last time and I have to fix it before the w/e. Why are they so weak and why are they in such a dumb-arse place?

Grrr.
