Escort GTI

Hi chaps.
I've just bought a '98 escort GTI. It's got the 1800 vetec engine. Does anyone know the specs of this car i.e. H.P. etc or where I can find comprehensive information on the web, thanks.

Sorry wrong Had one as a company "demo" back in 1998..... 115bhp from it`s 1.8 Zetec engine, it was badge engineering at its worst, the car was OK don`t get me wrong,decent spec included half leather, and "Cossie" style 15" alloys and the RS2000 body kit, but it had the unfortunate task of taking over the RS2000 (150BHP) and the 130 bhp Si/XR3i as THE performance Escort, the public where a bit confused by the badging! GTi, Ford had run out of badge`s to put on hot/warm Escorts, by 97 when the GTi came along we already had, "S" "RS" "XR" "Si" "Mexico" in 7 years It took us 10 minutes to tell them about all the different models

Ok, I take your point. Still I like the car and I bought it for one reason only, well two actually. 1, I couldn't get my bass rig, guitar, etc in the liz and 2, it was there when I needed it. Having bought it and driven it arround for about a week, I had to get it mot'd, it passed with now work being required at all. It runs great, looks nice, what more can I say. One day I may change the exaust, get an induction kit for it etc but that will require further investigsting and I don't know if it's worth the bother.

nope 2 the 105 ps and 130 ps on the 1.8, then a 1.6 90ps

Now I'm really confused. So the GTI I've got is the 1800 zetec, H.P.? What sort of boost am I goning to get with induction kit and sports exhaust, and which ones are reccomended.

Yep you have the 1.8ltr 115bhp Zetec engine in your car, i`ve sold a few of them
The brochure i found claimed 122 max 0-60 9.2 secs.
As for mods try this link to the top 50 Ford sites, you should get your answers there, but to get 130bhp, you will need to change the throttle bodies, this with a decent exhaust and induction kit and hay presto
