Hi folks, thought I'd join PH for your wisdom and knowledge please. I have a 2003 focus and my washers never seam to work when cold. They have not worked for a couple of weeks now. Is this a common problem? or is it a trip to the local dealer to sort out?

Can you hear the pump working or not?

no can't hear it.But you never can when it runs out of water or gets too cold. I was just wondering if they tended to get blocked or get an airlock or something. Its just that its a swine to get to cos its hidden behing the inner wing. I think the only way to get to it is to take your wheel off and take it out from under the wheel arch. I'll phone the dealer on Monday to see what they say.

No idea if it's the same set up as the fiesta but when mine is out of water of frozen you can still hear the pump.

I had a problem like that n my old escort, basically the bottle got chocked up with fur and when i used it up it all got jammed in the filter and i burnt out the motor.

So quick trip to Ford stealer, got a new motor took off wheel, took off plastic liner, took out washer bottle. Put new motor in, tried it, worked so put it all back together again.

About 45 mins!
