Hi all

Am afer some advice.

I've not long gotten a Mk5 Escort. it'd had been stood up since May 2005 an only run every now an again. Have gotten it all taxed an MoT'd, but went to check all the oil etc today (after gettin the bonnet cable fixed)

Theres not all this gunk in the filler tube and on the cap. A mate has said it could just be a bulild up of water/condensation where it's been stood for so long and i've only run it a few miles at a time. I'd put the link at the bottom to some pics of it
Do ya think i should give it a nice long blast to get any water out or has the head gone?

Any help would be really great

Thank Sandy

Condensation can easily build up this time of year especially if the engine has had lots of short runs. Take it for a good run of a couple of hours and that should evaporate the water. You'll probably find the oil level goes down too, it's amazing how water can collect in the sump! A warning sign that is more clear cut is oil in the water. If you have that too then start to be more concerned.

thats a normal thing on a fiesta just keep the breather system in the air filter box clear and change the oil cap at least every 12,000 miles, and wash it out then blow out with air line as often as you can,the head gaskets dont blow on these, well its very rare on hcs motors.

Thank Sandy

Thanks Dale

I was gonna go get a new air filter for it tomorrow anyway, so i'll add a fill cap to the list too.
