Not as much as the 2WD system, that I do know. There have been some pretty powerful Escort cossies with about 500bhp, but don't know what upgrades they had to do, it's also a case of how long it lasts as well as opposed to how much power it can take.

AFAIK, the 2WD system is OK up to about 500hp and the 4WD up to 375hp.

...Think this is about right, seem to think 350bhp is when people start to upgrade with 4wd.

350bhp? is that all (no offence)? this is a little n the low side! i meen the EVO can take well over 600bhp at the wheels with a stock trany! and thats one of the "wrong way around" onse!

wha do the rally/rallycross guys run? i think the Euro spec cars are making about 580lbsft with the Cossy!

thanks Chris.

PS. what make the 2WD strong? can you use the 2WD with a transfer box on it??????

oh and has anyone got any links to cossy forums/sites?

thnaks again!

If your thinking of running big power then why not go for Quailfe box and diffs, thats what most of the Rally boys run. The drivetrain may take more power but it's going to be stressed and as a result unreliable.

www.turbosport.co.uk
www.passionford.com

Turbosport not as popular, but probably more in a PH vein. Both sites have members with quite big power 4x4's (500bhp+)

With regards to the EVO stock tranny, is this including the early Evo's? Cossie 4x4 is quite an old system/car remember..

Hi chuntingdon i was after the same question a while ago, i wanted to four wheel drive my e30 v8 bmw and the ford transmision would have a dodle to fit even all the front and rear suspension but in stock form the mt75 gearbox doenst like low down torque, i guess its ok on the cossies as the box is already working before the power becomes high, but i spoke to quaife and they could only guarantee 450 bhp for £5000, that was just way too much money for me at the moment!

yes they do, but not a straight fit, Martin Hadland has fitted one to his escort cossie.
