Hydraulic tappet noise?
Discussion
I just had the oil and filter changed and the engine occasionally makes a sound from the top which sounds like tappets (not a regular click though more a bag of bolts/tinkling). Only happens when oil is hot and when idling. The noise disappears as soon as the revs increase by a minimal amount.
Otherwise, engine runs fine.
Could they have changed to the wrong oil spec? This is a hydraulic tappet engine as far as I know.

The endura 1.3's do tend to make a bit of noise from the tappets. Give your local ford dealer a ring and they will give you an idea of the cost, In theory no parts are required so it will probably be 1 hours labour (£60-70 @ fords or £40-50 at an independant)

Ka's were only ever made with a 1.3
unless it's a sport or street ka that is
The clearences should be on a small plaque on top of the rocker cover.
he valve clearences are a service item too, so if it's just had a service or due for one, get the garage to check the settings for you.
