Puma Cam Belt Issues?
Discussion
Hi Pistonheaders,
I've just wandered over from the Porsche section with a question.
A friend has a Puma 1.7. The cam belt failed at slow speed, and she's been quoted £1500 for repairs. Her car has done 97k miles and has a full Ford service history.
I understand there's a 100k mile service interval on these engines. Do these cars have a history of failure?
Does she have any chance of getting a goodwill contribution?
Cheers

The interval was 100k or 10 years which ever came first.
Goodwill on that is solely down to FMC customer assistance, their decision will be based on a number of things
Age and mileage
Original owner
ford dealer service history
and they'll also want to know from the dealer if the belt has suffered any contamination from oil or coolant or indeed anything else that could have caused belt failure.
The dealers have access to a service policy and warranty information (SPWI)bulletin released some years ago which will help with the case.
So, the owner will have to get the car into a ford dealer and also set a case up with customer assistance.
A contribution maybe be made....i'd doubt the full costs would be covered though.
