It's a 1.6 and started playing up a couple of weeks ago, kangarooing on light throttle + check engine light on (not flashing). Took to dealers found 8 fault codes logged, reset and reprogammed and returned the car stating all fine. Within a day the kangarooing was back, eratic idle (500 to 1300), barely enough power to get away from a junction, no turbo and the fuel/trip computer reads engine system fault. So back again today and have been told it will need a new map sensor. I haven't a clue about these things so does the map sensor control the operation of the turbo? If anyone has experienced anything similar or has any idea what I'm on about I'd apprecaite your replies. My main concern is we are being fobbed off and there might be a probelm with the turbo charger, I've noticed a new rattle from the top of the engine a wondered if this might be connected to the turbo probelm.

The MAP sensor may well be the concern.

Manifold
Absolute
Pressure

sensor, does what it says really, if it reads wrong then the PCM won't supply the correct amounts of fuel. The lack of fuel will give the no turbo feeling as you try and pull away.

Trust them and see how it goes.

Quick update, Nighthawk you were right more faith required on my part, MAP sensor had an oil build up, once cleaned all back to normal and running well. Thanks.
