How do you tell the difference?

Is anyone on this Forum able to help with this one please? A mate of mine (honest!!) has got hold of a Pinto engine and has asked is there any sure way of finding out if it is definately a 2 litre, so basically how do you visually tell the difference between a 1600/2000 ?

The engine size on a pinto is cast into the side of the block. A 2 litre will have 2.0 on the side.

the engine size was cast into the block as mentioned, and depending on it's state of build the timing cover also has a number pressed into it.

The cooling fan was fixed on the 1.6 and viscous coupled on the 2's
