As with TVRs, a good tip would be to buy on condition. There are far more big turbos than there are small turbos (the smaller T25s came last in the production run). A substantial number of cars have been modded in some way at some point. Are you after a standard car? Do you have plans on modding it yourself? The T3s are easier to mod to high outputs (300bhp+) as they use among other things a different ECU to the T25s. Finding a really sound car is apparently quite a task now (so say the chaps in the EsCos forum on www.passionford.com) - do you have a budget in mind? £15k should get a low-ish mileage later car in mint condition from a private seller. You just need to track it down! PF and www.rsownersclub.co.uk/ would be a good start.
Best of luck.

Hi ya mate as much as i would like a big turbo i would not have the budget to do big power mods so i think a small turbo would be the best .I have been told most you can get out of a t25 is about 290 bhp any more than that you have to change the manegment at a cost of around £4000 .I would hope to have around the 15000 touch .The other thing is i think 290 bhp is a more reliabale power
