Can anyone clarify; My wife has a 2.3 litre (2001, 4 cyl - 16v) Galaxy which is due for a service. I've been looking at service schedules etc and can't find any mention of when to change the cambelt. Does this engine have a cambelt or are the cams Chain driven?

Chain. The engine is the DOHC engine that went into Transit and RS2000 in it's last guise. Fairly robust unit.

Thanks roush, no wonder there's no mention of cambelt change in the schedule but when I called the local Ford dealer to price up the service and I asked if it needed a cambelt change, the 'advisor' didn't know at what mileage it was due for a change

The only thing they could tell me was "£260 + extras"

I'm not surprised the poor service advisor couldn't think off the top of his head about belt change intervals and which engines are chain driven

There are a great many variations, and some engines have different intervals depending on build age.

The engine in your galaxy was fitted as mentioned to the current transit and the old scorpio and was and still is trouble free.
