escort mk6 upgrades

i've got an escort its a 1.6 N reg ghia. i was wondering what i can do to it to make it a bit quicker.
the answer is buy a new one with a bigger engine (i know)
but i like the radio/system in it and cant be bothered to remove and refit.
im looking for engine and suspention ideas.
its done 74,000.
do/would the injectors need cleaning for starters?

should i get home tune out to tinker with it.
does anyone know of a good place to service it in the brighton area.

Can't help with the service agent m8 but I can offer some advice with regards to the car.

The injectors probably won't be that bad if you use a decent petrol. But if you feel the need to have them tinkered with, ultrasonic cleaning is the way to go.

Engine upgrades, this area depends on how much cash your willing to sink into the car, knowing you'll get no return on it.

Cams, throttle bodies and internal work is the way to get more power from the 90ps 1600cc lump, but it'll probably cost more than the car cost you.

Rip the 1.6 out and replace with either a 1.8 or 2.0 be cheaper in the long run
