Hi all,

Currently midway through a welt belt change. I saw the other thread but didn't want to hijack.

I have a concern about the VVT pullies, mainly the intake one. The timing tool doesn't line up. I've not disturbed anything & was just going to swap the belt but now I'm thinking I need to free off the pulley?

I just took the VVT solenoids off and refitted them. I didn’t use that tool. I didn’t think it was necessary as nothing moved once the cams were locked in place. That’s some mess in the pick up, looks like you caught it just in time.

That's what I was going to do but decided to use the tools just to learn and noticed it seemed off. I decided to take the pulleys off and noticed there is some little filters in the bolts that no one mentions. There was a small amount of rubber but nothing bad luckily.

Probably a good thing you did. As you probably saw on my post, my strainer was virtually spotless. I’d leave everything lined up and locked and reassemble it as it was.

Just a random thought.
If the strainer gets blocked we all know that causes bother. But would lack of oil have an effect on the vvt soinoids/ spockets.
