Hello learned people. Having become totally fed up with my BMW 530d I am looking at a 2018 Mondeo. As far as I can see they seem to be pretty reliable motors. I am going for a manual as my BMW auto is dimwitted, slow and a pain in the arse. I had a similar ZF8 box in my G30 ALPINA B5 and it was a brilliant box with their programming.
I have had many Fords in the past and found them okay. So I would be grateful to hear of anything to look out for with these please? It has about 50,000 miles on it one owner with full history.

Many thanks!

Mk2 smax owner here, which is the mk5 mondeo with a fancy body on it.

I have the 180 hp version, 65 plate. I believe ad-blue was added later, so you might have it.

I'm now at 105k miles, it needs a new clutch, dmf flywheel and alternator pulley (the pulley is a one way clutch thing, they seize)

Other than a battery, new tyres every 10k miles, new brake pads and a constant top up of coolant, mine has been fantastic. (only a small top up, not enough to justify investigating). I have also undersealed the car.

If you search YouTube for Allan howatt (sp??) he used to maintain a fleet of mk5 mondeo taxis, up to about 300k miles when the sensors on their dpfs bacame too problematic. (he has since moved to Thailand, so maybe they were terrible?)

I've always been a ford person, but I do like it!

I have sworn off anything French, but am greeted with a Peugeot and Citreon logo whenever I pop the bonnet..

I ended up with a 2016 2.0tdci 179ps hatchback. Full leather and well optioned. Drives very well except for noisy steering which I have read is a common fault. Dealer is fitting a new steering rack in a couple of days. So far very happy with it and especially the luxury of a manual gearbox !

Wishing you many miles of happy motoring! - I have a 65 reg, so only just behind you!

Still need to get that DMF of mine booked in..

Randomly, my gearbox has taken a TON of abuse, and is still happy - so far. How it has survived I do not know.
