ST220 Rear shocks
Discussion
I have come up against a issue with my Mondeo ST220 that I would think many have before.
I have a slight leak come up as a advisory on one of my rear shocks.Trying to find replacements have become something I would never have guessed would be some so difficult on a Ford.
It is on a 54 plate and I am only the 2nd owner and bought it in 2008 so I would like to keep it as standard as I can.
I went to my local Ford dealer and they gave me the OE part no of 1253785 and the Engineering no of 2S71-18K076-AD.
They also warned me these parts are very model specific for the ST220 and the STDCI saloon and hatch only as well.
Any other mondeos do not have the same rear shocks due to positioning of the bracket.
Loads of other aftermarket suppliers such as Autodoc have assured me they have correct replacements but when I check the part no's and eng no's they do not match.Even though the ST mondeos are not that common if it is just the bracket position that makes these parts specific surely some aftermarket company which sometimes supplied ford with the original parts(sachs etc) could have made some available.
So I am a bit stuck at the moment. I dont want any lowering kits or adjustable part shocks.
There is now a ST220 Enthusiasts Club but is only accessed by facebook,a bit antisocial for non savvy petrolheads like myself that dont do loads of computer stuff.
Any help to get some standard rear shocks on my car (any aftermarket make or good 2nd hand)would be greatly appreciated.
If someone from the Enthusiasts club could contact me other than facebook that would help.
Cheers.

Why cant you use Facebook?
Its actually great for car related stuff, you usually get an answer straight away, its no harder than registering and posting here really.
You dont have to get involved in anything else.
Sorry its not much help but maybe a family member could ask on your behalf?
Im not too fussed on aftermarket suspension either but choose the right quality kit and it can be better than standard when set correctly.
I appreciate your desire to keep standard though.

No joy at all so far.
Same old companies saying their shocks are correct then show they will fit other mondeo's.
I had a friend try to contact the ST220 Enthusiasts club by joining through facebook but they asked a entrance question then refused him.Bloody hell what is this the mason's ? Being a general pistonhead I also belong to a motorcycle club that specialises in 70's 2 strokes and we accept forum members to just help get and keep our marque on the road and not keep information as some elite secret.
As this seems to be the way the Enthusiasts club culture is based my 'help anyone if I can' ethics probably would not fit in anyway.
I have also a contact in Fords Dunton so I am still casting the net out and also found another breakers but the shocks looked like they had been at the bottom of the sea.
I have a month till the next MOT so if I haven't sorted out this by then I will have to SORN the car till I do.
Still, onwards and upwards and hope the rain will eventually give us all a break so I can get the 2 wheeled toys out to play.
