Electrical oddness…

2012 SMax.
I’ll save you the very long boring version. In short, when in reverse the reverse lights do not come on…. But they do come on when I’ve got the heated rear window turned on?!?! (As in, they are now controlled by the heated window button, which gear I am in is irrelevant)

Any ideas where to start… is this a common Ford issue or have a got a weird issue on the go? Oh, and the heated window still works.

Broken earth wire in the Flexi to the tailgate thus finding a path to earth via other electrical paths?
