Hi people,

Some advice on the following would be greatly appreciated.

I own a 2019 ford ranger raptor. 2nd owner bought in 2021 with 17k on the clock. Full dealer service history.

End of 2021 i had issues with the gearbox slipping (its a 10 speed auto) ended up going into ford and they found swarf in the trans oil and replaced the gearbox under warranty.

Fast forward to end of november 2022, going down the motorway turning onto a slip and heard turbo go out of nowhere, clattering noise followed by alot of smoke out the rear. Pulled over and the oil was dumping out the exhaust which clarified my thoughts. This is now 2 months outside of warranty.

Went into ford, they carried out some diagnostics and found that both impellar shafts where damaged on the bi-turbo with excessive play and have quoted me over £4000 for new turbo, exhaust and dpf clean and intercooler clean etc.

The dealers tried putting a claim in to ford for good will gesture but they refused it on the bases that the 1st service that was carried out on the vehicle was done 3,000 miles later than their suggested timing.

Ultimately i know theyre not obliged to help outside of warranty but this seems like abit of a cop out.

Ford have since carried out compression test onbthe engine to ensure tgere is no engine damage before fitting new turbos and there is none or little compression on cylinder 2. And now theyre talking a full engine strip or engine replacement with repair costs in excess of £10k.

I personally think its disgusting on a 3 year old car with only 35k on the clock. Has anyone had any similar issues or have any thoughts on an argument against ford to help cover the costs? Thanks for reading!

Can’t help with the argument regarding the costs, but my old one had the engine fail at just under 1 year old/26k miles.

One injector failed, another was failing, evidently caused enough damage to require a full engine replacement
