Long story short.

31 year old who had owned driven a few quick (400+whp) cars.
Currently concentrating on my bike license but have had a hankering for a car project for a while now.

I daily a 1.6 mk1 focus and lately have come up with the crazy idea to just use the focus as a project.

I was wanting rwd but I don’t think it bothers me to much. This will be a project to see what I can do and not all about power.

I was thinking of looking for the closest track/hill climbs and seeing what I could do stock and then slowly building up over time to see what makes a difference. I’d love to time each upgrade to see what time it knocks off. Including professional guidance etc.

Good idea ? Or just buy something else ?

Those MK1 Focuses used to make for pretty decent rally cars. I'd be thinking of caging it and getting involved with some local rallies if it were me. Keep it FWD, but there will be plenty of suspension and underbody protection mods needed!

I'm sure you can have a lot of fun with it on a track or hillclimb, but in my opinion, you're just starting off with the wrong car.
