I have a ford kuga 2021, st-line, manual transmission.

I have installed the ford pass app (android) and I can lock and unlock the car with it.

I'm searching the internet and can't find the right answer, is it possible to start the
engine with the phone (while sitting in car) or use the phone instead of the key
and start the engine.

Sounds a bit pointless to have an app that only works from inside the car.

No, it's not, because if by chance the partner takes the key away, and the other spare key is at home...

Why would you not just have a key each rather than leaving one at home?

Sorry, but the comments have gone off course.

The main question is still whether I can start the car using my phone (In other words, to use the phone as identification to start) and drive away. And what are the prerequisites for realizing this.

Is it possible for the mentioned car?

I have a 2020 smax - i don’t know if they are different or not.

I can start the engine via the app remotely, but this is for climate control reasons. You then need the key present to drive the car.

I cannot start the car and drive it using my phone

I thought of starting the engine and driving with the phone in the car as a replacement for the normal car remote key.

There is talk about this (Phone As A Key) on the Internet (just like you can have credit cards in your phone) - so the key would also be stored in phone.

My sister had a focus, and no, you couldn’t start the car with it,

I would assume it was because hers was manual, it could be left in gear and lurch forward and I think In this country at least, it’s legal to remote start a car?

I think Tesla and the newest 1 series (and other BMW) let you use the phone as a key, so no need to have the fob
