Hi,

In last few weeks my drivers door on my 2010 focus has stopped locking from using the little black button on exterior door handle.

It will open as normal from that door when it is locked as normal just by pulling on handle. The doors will lock if i either use the lock button on the remote control, or if i walk around to passenger side and press button on that door.

I have done all the easy fixes i can find on google like disconnecting car battery to see if a reset will sort it out, checked all fuses ok and took handle off to see if i could see any loose wire etc but still wont lock.

I have gone through the car diagnostics on dashboard to see if any fault code on there but none.

Seems to me that it must be a fault on the actual black button on handle, is there anyway to find out if its a mechanical fault with button or if its something to do with a signal from door not getting through etc.

I know its only a 3rd world problem as all it means is having to use remote to lock doors but its still a feature i miss at moment.

So any idea’s?

I think it's actually a First World problem but apart from that my 2011 Focus (new shape) doesn't even have have black button, neither did my earlier '04 Focus, so just use the key fob - or dismantle the door lock.
