Coil spring went with a very loud bang, having spoken to local dealers there are none in the UK, FINIS is 1383778, colour code RED, RED, ORANGE. Anyone come up against this? I've put it on back order but it doesn't sound promising (could be a week, 2 weeks or 6 months if at all!).

Only alternative I can see is a kit by Eibach but that would mean changing all of the springs and lowers the car which I don't really want to do!

They are showing on autodoc, have to buy in pairs though.

Or you could grab a pair off a normal mondeo at scrapyard while you wait, won't be much different

Yeah I found those but people had trouble with them rubbing the body work...

Have you considered aftermarket? SKF (of all people!) list one - VKDL 34158, as do Quinton Hazell - QCS8927. Might be worth a call to a decent motor factor.

Thanks, I'll see what Ford come back with, apparently they have to order it from Daventry & then they know if they can get one from the EU!

I'll see what I can find on the ones you mention, may I ask where you found them?

The Eibach kit is your best bet and won't lower the ST220 much - the 35/30mm drop is based on a standard Mondeo but IIRC the ST220 is 25/20mm lower anyway, so you're only dropping 10mm. They give a decent improvement and don't harm the ride.

I found some that will apparently fit made by KYB, who are apparently an OEM manufacturer.

Time will tell.....

Ford customer assistance were st, their reply was "you need to speak to your dealer"!

Well thanks, you made the bloody thing so I'd hope your parts system would know where one was and if not when one will be available.

Sorry I just spotted this. I fitted the Eibach kit to mine back when I had it after a spring snapped. Improved the handling...and ride! The Eibachs were a more progressive spring and were also 1/3rd of the cost of a Ford original. The kit stated it was for the ST TDCi and not 220, but myself and a number of others all fitted them with no issue.

Thanks for that, it will be my backup plan. Did it lower it much? Speed bumps and previously lowered cars really puts me off tbh!

No, the ride height change was extremely minor and it didn't have any negative effects over speed humps. I think I acutally bought the kit from Ford, but it was some years ago now so I'm not 100%. I think my old ST is still going, though it's MoT time for it in October so it'll be itneresting to see if it is in a few months.

Thanks wink Ford used to use Eibach for their RS lowering springs (had them on my old Mk1). I did check with a dealer and they had nothing, no surprise there though!

Had this with a ST Tdci recently. Same springs I believe. Got Lesjofors ones from local motor factor. Specific listing for ST & ST Tdci sports suspension. I was worried they would only have ones for all models of Mondeo and not specific ones for the ST so all good.

Cheers, that was another make I found. How did you find them? Only other brand I found was Suplex but people were saying they didn't fit!

Just FYI, Eibach do NOT do a kit for an ST220.........

"We offer the kit E10-35-004-02-22 as it is known to fit the ST220, however the spring rates are softer than OE."

Garage can't help until the 21st, then I'll know if the springs I have fit......

As per my previous post, the Eibach kit was listed for the ST TDCi (and other MK3 Mondeo's) but not for the ST220. There was speculation on why this was, however I had the springs on my car and know of many others who used them on theirs. If you do some googling, there are some useful posts on the topic on other forums. But you can fit Eibachs, and they do work very well. smile

Edit to add, the kit no you listed is the one people fitted to the 220. And IIRC the Eibachs are progressive and the standards were linear which meant that on rough roads the ride was better, but when you were making progress the body control was better. I'd highly recommend them.

Ended up fitting them myself (spring compressor from Screwfix for £25!). Was actually very easy, hardest part was getting the strut back in, used a second trolley jack to compress the spring enough to get the strut to sit on the subframe. Glad I did it myself as I took the opportunity to clean up & paint the subframe and also grease the strut bolts so they don't rust away to nothing!
