Never owned a Cossie, but have owned S1 + S2 RST's..and was an RSOC member for this time.
Most cars advertised by RSOC members should at least be well cared for. Also the club itself should be offer you loads of advice on the ups and downs of ownership!
Bearing in mind most of these cars are > 15 years of age now, with very few still standard.

I bought my RS 500 through the RSOC. Prolly your best chance of not getting stung with a lemon as the car will probably be known to club members. Even if it isn't there's tons of people on there who will give advice and after you filter the usual Internet forum BS, many of which will actually give useful advice.
