Spotted at Goodwood Track, plated HVK 928C - which is period but doesnt feature the normal OEM Ford badges on the bonnet and rear? Tried the GT40 enthusiasts page on FB but no one got back to me lol

4181cc.....err, that's 255ci.......which doesn't equate to any original engine seen in a GT40.
In fact, other that the infamous (lowest hp V8 ever offered in a Mustang) 255ci V8 from the early 80's, I can't think of any other 255ci V8 (assuming it is a V8)

So, I'd say its a replica.

Chassis number 2293 so I think that’s too high for a genuine car.

Thanks for all the useful info and comments. I understand how you may be able to put an older plate on a newer car but unsure how this particular car dates from 1965, unless that refers to the plate only and not the chassis?

According to the wikipedia page, the 4181cc engine was a thing....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_GT40

I'd say FAV 45C is it's actual reg.

HVK 928C is purely a show plate. Handily from an actual GT40.

By comparison here is a similar looking car taken back in the late 80s I think, at Brands Hatch - notice all the period correct Ford badging....

From the looks of various photos the dual bonnet vent also featured alongside the single.

Checks out. Although the chassis number for HVK928C is 2293, I thought GT40 genuine chassis were all in the 1000 range?
