Ford’s website doesn’t allow you to place an order for a new Fiesta or Focus, yet you can for SUVs like Puma and Kuga. What is going on? Are they discontinuing traditional hatchbacks and focusing on crossovers?

Maybe the lead times are so big on Fiestas and Focuses that they don't want any more orders.

Ford seem very slow in coming out with EVs...

I guess they are urgently re-designing the production strategy

Ford aren't usually early tech adopters; they tend to let others make the mistakes then come in.

My big boss at work wants us to start buying electric vans, and my yardstick has been to do so when Ford start going big on them.

Yes that's a good point. Perhaps that will work in the long term.

In the current market it's hard to see where their revenue is coming from if you can't order a Fiesta or a Focus and yet they're not selling EVs...

I was sat in a Ford showroom for 2 hours yesterday waiting for my wifes car to be serviced.

6 sales staff doing pretty much nothing for 2 hours, and I only heard the phones ringing a few times.

Had my order cancelled by Seat for a new Leon company car last week as they are unable to supply, we looked at a Focus as an alternative & Ford wouldn't accept an order from the leasing company for the same reason

They've gone to the trouble of facelifting the Fiesta and Focus, so they haven't abandoned them altogether - but I think the issue is the chip shortage, some production lines have been shut down periodically.

Long term though, the move to SUVs and crossovers means they may get dropped eventually.

Saw a TV advert tonight for the E- transit.

When I ordered my Mustang there was a similar rise in list price between order and delivery. I was charged the price from when I ordered but the contract did say that they could charge any increase of the price changed between order and delivery although I would have been able to cancel.
